Exchange vs. Pooling
Generally, there are two options to handle pallets: open exchange and pooling solutions.
Pooling
With pooling, on the other hand, a third party remains permanent owner of the pallets. You order the required number of load carriers from the pooling operator. You will pay a usage fee for the pallets provided.
This system is advantageous as you are not in charge of maintenance and administration of the pallets. These tasks are part of the responsibilities of the pooling operator.
Open pallet exchange
In open exchange, you procure the necessary number of pallets, which will be exchanged with the existing empty pallets at a 1:1 ratio upon delivery. In this case, you are in charge of repair, storage, replacements, and management of the pallet account.
There are different service levels available for pooling services. PreTurn offers the following service levels
